God's High Five
Finally I have the chance to tell you all in advance
The stories they all resolve but the characters still revolve
Like a world spinning out of control out of orbit to a black hole
Suddenly something appears and draws nearer

We have plans for you
We do, We do

Then God gave me a high five and I laid down and cried
Cause everyone I know is a sheep, including me

We have plans for you
We do, We do

Your Dad's Shoes
When you topple over
And you said what you said
The lady sings until you're sober
Just to remind you she's there
But don't be scared

There's a heart made of trembles
It finds a love uncompared
Suddenly she's not as shaky
She acts as if it's before the accident

There's more to come...

There's an underpaid rental
He puts his life on the spare
He only wants to impress Laura
She's the talk of the fair
With her winter glare

The first time I'd seen you in handcuffs
I knew your life before mine
I found myself getting angry
At what I couldn't define
But now I try

There's more to come...

There's a beach on the boardwalk
I tried to show all my friends
It's as empty as a treehouse
The kids were forced to defend
Then abandon

Cause Dad got a new job
He won't speak the details
Sale sign's up your Dad was fired
Save your tears for the day it's you
In your dad's shoes

Running from Mirrors
So you saw it again you were looking in the mirror
you didn't trust your friends that your hair is getting thinner
but reflections never lie, they can't, they're unable
so you're running away from an intimate observance
like it has the plague underneath the surface
old age is coming
old age is coming fast and with a vengeance
out of your past you're pulling tricks tryin' to make your life a mural
but even steady sharks start shaking near a funeral
and when you hear the roar inside
never let it out
never let it out bottle it up seal it with an empty promise like you do
and start running again
the marathon begins and maybe you'll beat yourself to the grave
you start backing up when you notice your arrival
but you're tuckered out, and no supper on the table
and food is the last thing on your mind
As you're staring at your tombstone
Stare at your tombstone one more time and think of all the mirror's left behind

I Guess There's a Better Way
Some people say they're weak so they can find a way to go to sleep
Some people just act dumb so you can think, but who's the dummy?
Finding out everything all at once is not enticing
It invokes an inner rage that aligns with the poorest timing

I guess there's a better way...
I guess there's a better way to be unknown

Some people ain't the same once they connect with a higher purpose
Some people aren't as strange as they can seem when they're on the TV
Digging up a lover's past and baking a mud pie
It ensures you'll never last and dessert will be leftover

I guess there's a better way...
I guess there's a better way to be unknown

God isn't what he seems, he's not a he and it's all around me
God isn't make believe, he's not a he and it's all around me
Finding out everything all at once is not enticing
It invokes an inner rage that aligns with the poorest timing

I guess there's a better way...

Robots in an Eggplant
I leave eggs everywhere for people to find
But no one's looking anywhere I lay them
I decorate everyday meticulously
I put my special touch to all of them
And sometimes I notice a big mistake
But imperfections make the egg great
It shows they're made by human hands
And not by robots in an Egg Plant
I wish you would have never left
Cause this last egg could be sunlit
Another hand can make a normal day
A masterpiece until the egg splits
Another mess we'd have to forfeit
But now it's junk I have to deal with
Cause it's all I have
Cause it's all I have
Cause it's all I have
